About Me

I’m Shigira, a junior high school student at MITA International School in Tokyo, Japan with a dream of making my voice heard around the world.

Born and raised in Tokyo, I have been attending international school since I was young and am fluent in both Japanese and English. Recently, I made the decision to switch from the international school system to the Japanese school system for junior high school. After undergoing my first entrance examinations, I was admitted to the highly selective Mita International School, where I am now attending as a member of the International Class. I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world with my family over the years and am always keen on new experiences. I’ve found that going outside my comfort zone can lead to amazing places: this year, I participated in the United Nations’ 69th Commission on the Status of Women conference in New York as a youth journalist, and was able to interview UN officials and NGO representatives from all across the globe.
